Dv & Film: Future?

I've heard of special effects having resolutions as high as 4000x4000.

Well, Im shooting on XL1s Already which is 3ccd DV. I meant after i have made a few "great"films and im all famous (i can dream) then i have the money to rerelease my film at the theaters. Is it possable (if 100 grand is no problem).

I'm gathering that it is. So thats good.

Oh, and dont worry bout story, "The Mystic" has been given 9 1/2 out of 10 by 3 high powered script reviewers and given it a 20 grand production budgit directly to me. which is pretty good for my first feature, they said they would give me 100 grand to sell it and have nothing to do with it but i rather direct it myself.

Oh, and "The Mystic" has been rewritten, the one on thsi forum is like Version 1. Its at V.5 now.

OK--So it's a great movie. I will give you that.

Now, where will you be able to find a MiniDV player in 25 years?? U-Matic anyone?? How about 2Inch?? Video lasts about 15 years if you are lucky.

I had the horrible job of trying to log video footage that was U-Matic and I was lucky if could get the tapes to play. They had been stored correctly...They were shot correctly....The tape deck was working correctly. The problem was that the tape stock was fucked--Due to age. Welcome to the world of metals.

I hope your movie will be around in 100 years but if it's video that's doubtful.

I think that technology is a bit more advanced now than at was at the start of video.

Isn't the whole point of digital that it can be constantly updated. When DVDs or minidv get old you can transfer it back to the computer and put it onto whatever is being used at the time.

Nowadays films that are digitally stored will actually last longer than films stored on film.

What about betacam's btw? They can offer real nice footage when well lit, are cheaper to use, don't if it's easier, but isn't that like the 'golden mid-way-to-' go or whatever that's called in English?

the whole point of digital is that it is stored digitally and therfore it doesn't degrade.. however who's to say that the medium holding your digital data might degrade!
